Jupiter True Color Texture Map - Hubble 2015

Description

This is my second attempt of a Jupiter texture from Hubble data aquired in 2015, fitting for the Juno spacecraft. This time in planetographic projection as required in Celestia. Compared to my previous attempt this uses the data of the second rotation Hubble observed, so the clouds moved a bit. Also I found the unprocessed color filters, so I could make sure I used actual RGB data with realistic contrast. Colors are quite different from other Jupiter maps I made. The GRS is much redder and the tropical belts are much darker, almost purple.

Data is from here: archive.stsci.edu/prepds/opal/

Update April 23 2017

I found out that the data for the green and blue channels were recorded in somewhat extreme wavelenghts, so I balanced them with each other to create this view. The colors are now much less extreme, with a moderately red GRS and the belts being more brown, less purple. It also fits better within my other true color textures of Jupiter now.

Update May 19 2017

I completely reprocessed the texture after I was happy with the colors of my 2016 texture, which should be closest to real colors of all of my textures. This one is a close match, I used data from red (631 nm) green (547 nm) and blue (395 nm & 502 nm) channels. The closest channel to blue (467 nm) is missing, so some hues still deviate from the 2016 texture.
